ORT Hanna Senesh
Imagine life for a 15-year-old who immigrates to Israel from a small city in Ukraine. Compounding the difficulties of learning a new language and finding her place in this foreign environment are the pressures of living in a family struggling to survive. Now imagine if this teenager also has a learning disability. Where can she, and so many others like her, turn for support?

ORT Hanna Senesh, in Haifa, admits any student who exhibits the desire and motivation to learn, regardless of their individual circumstances.

Many students at this school are low achievers (25% have been diagnosed with learning disabilities) and would not make it through traditional schools - many come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and could not afford tutoring. But thanks to the Matriculation for Slow Learners Project at ORT Hanna Senesh, these students are given a chance to achieve academic success.

The Matriculation for Slow Learners Project, one of the many programs supported by Women's American ORT, provides a supportive environment with small study groups and supplemental instruction for its students.
